On Thursday, November 20, the third grade embarked on an exciting learning adventure to the Museums at Patuxet, made possible in part through the generosity of the PTA.

During their visit, students explored what life was like for both the Wampanoag people and the Pilgrims at this immersive living history museum. They observed firsthand how each community used the land, built their homes, and worked together to meet daily needs. Students had the opportunity to grind corn, step inside a wetu, watch a mishoon being crafted, and try games that Pilgrim children once played. They especially enjoyed asking thoughtful questions of the historical interpreters in the Pilgrim Village and the cultural guides in the Wampanoag homesite.

This field trip directly supports the third-grade curriculum, enriching students’ understanding of the history of Massachusetts, the Native peoples of the region, early settlers, and how communities have changed over time. Seeing these concepts brought to life helped students make meaningful connections to their classroom learning. This was a memorable and impactful learning experience for our students.
