On November 17, 2025, all fourth-grade students had the opportunity to attend the Cape Symphony Orchestra’s annual Young People’s Concert, a special field trip funded by the PTA. Each year, the Cape Symphony partners with local school districts to introduce young learners to the excitement of live, professional orchestral music—and this year’s performance did not disappoint!
Students traveled to Barnstable High School, where they experienced a vibrant program celebrating American culture and history. The concert beautifully supported the orchestra unit of the general music curriculum, giving students a chance to connect what they’ve been learning in class to a real-world performance. For our budding band students, the experience was especially meaningful as they watched professional musicians play the very instruments they are currently learning.
There were many memorable highlights. Students were thrilled by a lively, cowboy-themed “Hoedown,” complete with an enthusiastic “Yeehaw!” at the end. Another favorite moment was joining the orchestra in singing the national anthem—an experience many students described as the best part of the day.
