Everything You Need to Know About the 2026 Fun Run
The Fun Run is coming back—and if you’re new to Forestdale or Oak Ridge, you’re in for a treat!
The Fun Run is the biggest (and hopefully only!) fundraiser of the year for the PTA, and it’s one of the events our students look forward to each year and remember fondly at the end of the year.
And this year, we have a big goal: $95,000
Can we do it? We think so—and we’ll need the whole Sandwich community to help us get there.
What Is The Fun Run?
It's a fundraiser & it's fun!
Students and families will spend the month of October raising money for the Sandwich Elementary PTA

Registration is free and there are fun games and prizes just for completing the registration!
On Fun Run day - students head outside during the school day for 25 minutes of running, walking, skipping, dancing, and having fun with their classmates.
All students will get this outdoor fun time! It’s not about who can run the fastest. It’s about school spirit, movement, community, and celebrating what our students have accomplished together.
When Do They Run?
Forestdale Fun Run - October 23, 2026 - During the school day
Grade 2: 9:30-10:30am
Grade 1: 10:45-11:45am
Kindergarten: 12:00pm - 12:45pm
PreK: 1:00pm - 1:30pm
Oak Ridge Fun Run- October 30, 2026 - During the school day - Halloween Costumes Encouraged!
Grade 3: 8:45- 9:20
Grade 5: 9:45-10:25
Grade 6: 12-12:35
Grade 4: 1:10-1:45
And yes—families are welcome to come watch and volunteer at Forestdale and Oak Ridge!

Every student will receive a free Fun Run T-shirt to wear on Fun Run day and throughout the year. Many Forestdale students wear their Fun Run shirts on Field Day at the end of the year.
Fun Run Incentives & Prizes
Throughout the month, we'll have incentives to keep students and families motivated and celebrating along the way.
We'll be rewarding incentives based on registration, individual fundraising, classroom totals, grade-level totals, school-wide milestones and more.
2026 Fun Run Incentives
October 9th - The class with the most registrations by percentage by Thursday at midnight, will get a visit from our Pong For Prizes cart on Friday for a fun game and prizes. Everyone in the classroom gets a prize!
October 15th - The two classes that collectively raise the most donations by percentage this week will be awarded lunch outside with a popsicle party!
October 23rd - The person in each grade who has the greatest NUMBER of individual donors (no matter the donation amount) by 10PM on Thursday will get to lead their grade in Follow the Leader during the Fun Run.
October 30th - The grade that raises the most money (by percentage) by 10pm on Thursday will win a Movie Day in the gym or MPR.
When we reach $45k in donations - The entire school will receive 10 extra minutes of recess!
When we reach $65k in donations - The entire school will have music played in the cafeteria for lunch!
When we reach $95k in donations - A school wide mystery prize will be revealed!
When your individual classroom reaches a goal made by your individual student's teacher - Students will get Pajama Day, Stuffy Day, Sock Day, Yoga In The Classroom, or something else that you're amazing teacher can think of!
Oak Ridge vs. Forestdale - The school with the most donations will receive a "Blue Knighting Ceremony" where the principal of the losing school will be required to "knight" the winning principal.
How Families Can Help With the Fun Run
You don't have to do anything complicated. There are 5 easy ways to get involved:
1. Register Your Student

2. Share Your Student's Fundraising Link
Once registered, your student will have a personal fundraising page.
Share it with family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and anyone who wants to help support Sandwich elementary students. You never know how far your student's fundraising link might travel!
3. Cheer Them On!
Talk about the Fun Run at home. Help them keep an eye on the incentives (ask them to pay attention during Morning Announcements). And, most importantly, remind them that every dollar they raise helps all students experience something special at school.
4. Volunteer!
Come cheer on the students, help with the event, and be part of the fun!
5. Become A Sponsor!

Why Does the Fun Run Matter?
Because the money raised comes right back to our students.
Fun Run funding helped provide experiences ranging from field trips and science programs to cultural performances, author visits, student celebrations, and resources for classrooms and common spaces. Last year, the Fun Run raised an incredible $90,750, which allowed the PTA to provide enrichment opportunities across every grade and put additional funding toward school-wide resources. Let's Run Toward $95K!
The Fun Run is about more than running. It's about giving our students opportunities to explore, experience, create, learn, celebrate, and make memories together.
Last year's Fun Run raised $90,750. This year, we're going for $95,000.
That's a big goal—but with nearly 1,200 students, their families, our schools, and our incredible Sandwich community behind us, we're ready to get moving.
